Kilifi, Kenya – October 2025
The Kilifi Creek Festival felt like a homecoming — a convergence of creativity, culture, and community on Kenya’s magnificent coast. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Indian Ocean, the festival offered a uniquely immersive experience: films under the stars, dhows gently swaying in the tide, and stories that transcended borders.

This year’s edition held special significance as it featured a landmark collaboration between the YORA Awards and the International Film Awards, marking a defining moment in the intersection of African storytelling and global recognition. Together, the partnership celebrated visionary filmmakers, creatives, and entrepreneurs shaping Africa’s narrative through innovation and artistry.

“The YORA Awards collaboration with the Kilifi Creek Festival is a statement — that Africa’s creative pulse beats strongly, boldly, and globally,” said Victor Odwori – YORA Co-Chair. “This is more than an event; it’s a movement honoring those redefining our cultural and economic landscape.”

Over several vibrant days, the festival brought together local and international guests for screenings, live performances, fashion showcases, and oceanfront dialogues. From independent film premieres to cultural showcases, the atmosphere buzzed with inspiration and cross-cultural exchange. The International Film Awards segment, hosted in partnership with the YORA Awards, recognized outstanding achievement in filmmaking, sustainability, and cultural innovation — reinforcing Kenya’s growing influence in the global creative economy.

The evening concluded in true YORA spirit — a celebration not just of excellence, but of connection. As waves danced beneath the moonlight, creatives, leaders, and visionaries toasted to a new era of African storytelling and international collaboration.
